Data Centre and Exchange Specialist
Job Description
Development, establishment and optimization of Mechanical & Electrical Standards, Guidelines and Technical Specifications of Telecommunications and IT related network/service facilities and infrastructures. Ensure the successful implementation of all network facilities projects to meet the current Operational year as well as design efficiency to strive for compay growth projection, cost savings, system reliability and robustness that will eventually support the revenue of other company/divisional and/or departmental KPIs and objectives.
Responsibilities
- Focal coordination within Network division and liaison with affiliated departments and sections on matters pertaining
- Involves cross functional & advice to Network Planning & Rollout, Operations, Field Force, Managed Services Provider and others (Technology, Strategy and Development).
- To participate in projects that lead to operational efficiency to strive for continuous CAPEX and OPEX reduction through infra-exchange, AC consumption reduce/efficiency and facility design optimization. Collaboration with internal customers and Procurement through vendor negotiation:
- CAPEX and OPEX saving site strategy & design without compromise the safety and quality;
- Design & Process Efficiency to achieve shorter turn-around time to RFS (build cycle improvement);
- Instill the System Stability, Business Continuity Planning (BCP)/Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP) in the site design (during the upgrade or new installation) for system robustness
- Participate (or Joint effort) with Procurement and Technology counterpart on RFP/Q process to strive for cost effective or reduction Contract or Frame Agreement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience
- Strong experience in capacity planning and forecasting for scalable data centre infrastructure.
- Demonstrated project management skills in executing data centre expansions, relocations, and equipment installations.
- Familiarity with industry standards, vendor management, and staying updated with industry trends in data centre facility planning.
- Someone who is revolutionized, innovative and analytical in problem solving. Result-process oriented and have past involvement in cost reduction and design efficiency projects.
- Exposure in technical standards development (guidelines and specifications), consultancy exposure/practice and strategic paper write-up.
- Distinctive character, self motivated, possesses positive attitude and a dynamic team player. Proactive, hands on and patient
- Good interpersonal skills and, interact and communicate easily and effectively at all levels in the organization.
