Job Description
The Head of Section, Group Accounting and Reporting is responsible for overseeing group consolidation financial reporting, Principals Reporting and MCMC reporting, excluding Accounting Separation. This role ensures compliance with group policies and approved Accounting Standards, manages quarterly Bursa reporting, and coordinates with external auditors. Additionally, this role includes duties such as staying current with changes in accounting standards and financial reporting requirements, preparing accounting papers for management, and supporting the finance department in any accounting standards applications and queries. Functions also include an Expert, Technical Accountant who is responsible for ensuring compliance with accounting standards and reporting regulations.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for Group Consolidation financial reporting, Principals Reporting, and MCMC reporting (excludes Accounting Separation).
- Responsible for Group quarterly Bursa reporting and compliance.
- Ensures all subsidiaries within the Group follow the group policies and are in compliance with the approved Accounting Standards.
- Supports and coordinates with external auditors or regulatory auditors (e.g., MCMC).
- Manages and oversees the group accounting system and cost centers.
- Assists in the preparation of quarterly BAC and Board Papers.
- Oversees RRPT monitoring and reporting.
- Stays abreast of changes in accounting standards and financial reporting requirements, assesses the impact on the Group accounts.
- Prepares accounting papers for management and BAC (where necessary) to reflect financial implications from changes in business needs, changes in accounting policies, and the adoption of new accounting standards.
- Supports the finance department in any accounting standards applications and queries, and acts as the key person to liaise with auditors on technical accounting matters.
- Provides necessary training and workshops to the finance reporting team on new developments on accounting and reporting requirements.
- Assists the Group Accountant in the preparation of Board Papers where necessary.
- Performs balance sheet review for the Group and works closely with key stakeholders to reconcile any variances and highlight any issues.
- Reviews the audited financial statements and ensures they are prepared in accordance with the accounting standards and reporting regulations.
Requirements
- Must possess at least a Degree in Accounting / Finance or Professional Certificate eg ACCA,MICPA,ICAEW, MIA
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Accounting and minimum of 3 years in managerial level
- Experience in auditing and technical knowledge of the Accounting Standards
- Experience in group consolidation and good analytical skills
